Roland (ローランド Co., Ltd.) is a Japanese company that produces electronic musical instruments, electronic equipment, and related software, established in 1972. The predecessor of the company was Ace Tone 1) founded in 1960. The company name Roland is a name that its founder Ikutaro Kakehashi stumbled upon in a phone book, and was later used because of its simple syllables and soft consonant pronunciation 2) .

Roland's products include electronic keyboards, synthesizers, guitar effects, electronic drums, musical instrument peripherals, and more. Its famous products include the BOSS effect series, Edirol audio, video system, and digital audio workstation Cakewalk series software.
